The Kiss

The Kiss

by Gustav Klimt

Jan Alexander@janni

'The Kiss' (1907–1908) is one of the most celebrated works of the Vienna Secession and Klimt's 'Golden Phase.' It depicts a couple locked in an intimate embrace, their figures draped in elaborately decorated golden robes adorned with geometric and floral patterns. The couple kneels on a floral cliff edge, surrounded by a shimmering gold-leaf background characteristic of Klimt's Byzantine-influenced style.
