Terms of service
Effective 18 May 2026
These are the rules of using Framed. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.
What Framed is
Framed is a place to scan, identify, and collect art. We host your photos, attach AI-generated information to them, and let you choose to share them publicly or keep them private.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 to use Framed.
- You’re responsible for activity under your account. Don’t share your sign-in code.
- Pick a username and display name that doesn’t impersonate another person, brand, or organisation.
The content you upload
- You keep ownership. Your photos are yours.
- You warrant you have the rights to upload each photo — either because you took it, the artwork is in the public domain, or the artist/rights-holder has granted you permission. Photographing an artwork you saw in a gallery is generally fine for personal record-keeping; sharing it publicly is more nuanced and depends on the artist’s rights. When in doubt, keep it private.
- You grant Framed a limited licence to host, display, transmit, and process your photos solely for the purpose of running the service (showing them to you, showing them to others when you share, running AI identification, backing them up).
- You can delete content at any time. When you delete a frame or your account, we remove your photos from our storage within 30 days.
AI identification is a guess
Framed uses Anthropic’s Claude to identify the artworks you scan. The AI tries hard, but it’s wrong sometimes — especially with obscure works, ambiguous lighting, or photos of photos. Treat the identification as a starting point, not a fact. You can edit any field, and edits are flagged as user-corrected.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Framed to:
- Upload content that is illegal, infringes someone’s rights, depicts minors sexually, or promotes violence or hatred.
- Harass, stalk, or impersonate other users.
- Spam, post commercial content without our permission, or use the service to artificially inflate followers / likes.
- Probe, scrape, or attack the service, or attempt to bypass security or rate limits.
- Use the service to violate any law that applies to you.
We can remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that break these rules. Serious violations may be reported to the authorities.
Reporting and copyright
If something on Framed shouldn’t be there, use the in-app Report button or — for copyright takedowns — file a formal notice via the copyright form. We commit to reviewing notices within 24 hours and acting on valid notices within 7 days.
Termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. We can suspend or terminate access if you break these terms or applicable law. If we terminate without cause, we’ll give you reasonable notice and time to export your content.
Disclaimers
Framed is provided “as is”. We can’t promise the service will always be available, error-free, or that the AI will be correct. We don’t guarantee a particular result from sharing your content (followers, reach, etc.).
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Framed isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the service. This doesn’t limit liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. gross negligence or wilful misconduct).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Austria. The competent courts of Vienna have jurisdiction over disputes, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence within the EU.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. When we make material changes we’ll surface a notice in the app and update the effective date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the new version.
